Anti-Racism and Decolonization Consultant

My lived experience with anti-racism and social justice began as a young child. I experienced bullying and victimization from my peers of colour which inculcated in me internalized racism and anti-blackness. Early in my professional career, I named this internalization and began a process of “ejecting the oppressor’s consciousness from my own” (Paulo Freire).

As a seasoned professional, I work to integrate my experiences into my academic work. As a scholar, I conduct research that spans the breadth of the academic literature while consulting with community members about their experiences. I believe in Participatory Action Research where my methods aim to return power to those the system aims to exclude.

In my workshops, individuals and groups will engage in critical work grounded in compassion, truth-telling, and critical dialogue in a trauma-informed and stepped model. We will cover topics such as colonization, decolonization, (re)indigenization, and the effects of White supremacy on marginalized communities of colour. I can also provide curated bibliographies for those interested in learning more.
